In private practice since 1970, Dr. William Steen has 30 plus years experience as a cataract surgeon and over 20 years as a refractive surgeon. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and by the American Board of Eye Surgery in both Cataract/Implant Surgery and Incisional Keratotomy (Refractive) Surgery. A pioneer in the field of ophthalmology, Dr. Steen has provided many of the "first" procedures in both cataract and refractive surgery to the Ark-La-Tex.

As one of the first surgeons to bring "Refractive Surgery" to this area in the early 80's, Dr. Steen saw how reducing/eliminating his patients' dependence on glasses and contact lenses improved their lifestyle and self-esteem. He has since been dedicated to providing the latest most advanced technology. He is pleased to offer to his LASIK patients a new level of laser vision correction using WaveScanŽ technology with the CustomVue™ procedure, enabling his patients to achieve Personal Best Vision.

For those patients that do not qualify for LASIK, Dr. Steen also provides CK (Conductive Keratoplasty) for patients over the age of 45 who are tired of wearing reading glasses as well as Crystalens, an advanced intraocular lens, that can allow patients to see at a distance and near without glasses.
